BIOGRAPHY

JACK LEE

I am a Chinese Malaysian artist based in Naarm/Melbourne, working across photography, moving image, mixed media, and digital art. My practice explores social norms and the construction of ‘in-between’ cultures, reflecting on queer diasporic identity, our entangled relationships with more-than-human species, and the anthropocentric impacts of the climate crisis. Through my work, I examine how those who exist outside dominant racial, gender, and sexual narratives navigate, negotiate, and reimagine their place within majority culture - creating spaces where intersectionality and different perspectives are not simply included, but are allowed to reshape the norm itself. For me, art becomes a process of disidentification - an act of both resistance and redefinition.
